$270,000 finalists chosen

LANSING, August 19, 2010 – Preliminary finalists for the Michigan Lottery’s $270,000 grand prize drawing, scheduled for Friday, September 3, have been selected. Names of the finalists have been withheld, pending notification.

The finalists are from the following Michigan cities:

  • Dearborn Heights
  • Traverse City
  • Detroit
  • Frederic
  • Metamora

Finalists qualified for the drawing by claiming a $700 prize in the Red Hot and Blue 7s instant tickets. The five lucky finalists were chosen from a pool of 98 entries.

The grand prize drawing will be conducted at Arts, Beats & Eats in downtown Royal Oak on Friday, September 3. The drawing will be televised live on WDIV Detroit Local 4.

Over 94 cents of every dollar spent on Michigan Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2009, the contribution to schools was $724.5 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
