Jackpot winning ticket sold in Kalamazoo!

LANSING, June 14, 2010 – Michigan Lottery players won big in Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing, with one player taking the $36 million jackpot and another winning $250,000!

In total, 31,190 winning tickets, with prizes ranging from $2 to the jackpot, were sold in Michigan for the Friday night drawing.

The jackpot winning ticket, matching the numbers 6-13-33-34-42 and Mega ball 25, was sold at One Stop Mart on Sprinkle Road in Kalamazoo.  The $250,000 prize winner, which matched the five white ball numbers, was sold at Sundry Shop in Westland.

“Congratulations to all our Mega Millions winners from last night’s drawing, especially the lucky player who holds the ticket worth $36 million!” Lottery Commissioner Scott Bowen said.

Last night’s jackpot winning ticket is the ninth sold in Michigan since Mega Millions launched in 2002. Michigan’s last jackpot winner was Chris Crane, whose winning ticket was worth $42 million, in October 2008.

Michigan’s largest Mega Millions jackpot, $208 million, was won by Ralph and Mary Stebbins in April of 2005.

Both the $36 million prize and the $250,000 prize must be claimed at Lottery headquarters in Lansing.  Winners of both should contact the Lottery’s Public Relations Division at 517-373-1237 to schedule an appointment.

Over 98.5 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers.  In fiscal year 2009, the contribution to schools was $724.5 million.  Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
