Lottery club wins $250,000 prize on second try!

LANSING, May 13, 2010 – Maybe it was beginners luck, but there are a lot of coworkers who now want to join the Mo Crazy 8’s Lottery Club.

On May 4, a group of eight coworkers decided to form a Lottery club and play Mega Millions every Tuesday. Just one week later, Mo Crazy 8’s Lottery Club won a $250,000 prize on the May 11 drawing. It was only the second drawing they purchased tickets for! The club said they will continue to play Mega Millions and perhaps now additional coworkers will participate in hopes of more good fortune.

Mo Crazy 8’s learned of their win on the Lottery’s Web site following Tuesday night’s drawing.

The eight members of the club split the $250,000 prize equally. Each club member said they would use their winnings to pay bills and “have a little fun.”

The winning easy-pick ticket was purchased at the Sturgis Party Store, 402 N. Nottawa St., in Sturgis.

Over 98.5 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2009, the contribution to schools was $724.5 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
