LANSING, September 2, 2009 – Debra Roberts of Sears was the lucky winner of a $300,000 top prize on the Lottery’s Wild Time Mania Instant ticket.
Roberts scratched the winning ticket immediately after she purchased it and started to cry when it revealed the $300,000 prize. She didn’t believe her luck until the clerk validated the ticket.
The Sears woman plans to pay off bills with some of the prize money and put the rest towards retirement.
The winning instant ticket was purchased at Scotts Sport Shop & Party Store, 7800 Ludington Dr., in Lake.
Wild Time Mania is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at nearly 11,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was $740.7 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
