LANSING, May 4, 2009 – The newest Michigan Lottery raffle will pay one lucky winner $1,000 a week for the rest of his or her life!
On sale Monday, May 11, the game is appropriately called Win For Life and costs $20 per ticket.
There will be 300,000 tickets available for sale. Six digit tickets, beginning with 000001, will be issued in numerical order as sales occur across the state. When ticket number 300,000 is reached, sales will close. Win For Life Raffle tickets will be available at all Lottery retailers, including Club Keno locations.
“Win For Life not only offers players a whole new way to win, it gives them a way to stretch out a win,” said Lottery Commissioner M. Scott Bowen. “We look forward to giving one lucky winner $1,000 a week for the rest of his or her life.”
The Win For Life drawing will be conducted on or after June 22, 2009 when 10,026 winning tickets will be selected. From the tickets sold, one winner will be awarded $1,000 a week for life (or for 20 years to the winner’s estate, whichever is greater); 25 winners will be awarded a cash prize of $50,000 each; and 10,000 winners will be awarded a cash prize of $100 each. That is over $3 million in prizes to thousands of very lucky winners!
Following the drawing, all Win For Life Raffle results will be available via the Lottery’s Web site at https://www.michiganlottery.com.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was $740.7 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
