Lucky 7s Raffle winners begin collecting prizes!

LANSING, May 5, 2009 – Just one day after the Lucky 7s Raffle was drawn, winners have already started to come forward to claim big prizes. Five winners, including players with the top prize tickets of $700,000 each, have come forward to claim their prizes.

Kimberly Nadjkovic of New Era was the lucky winner of a top $700,000 prize. The long-time player didn’t believe she won the prize. She returned $10 worth of bottles to pay for the winning ticket. Nadjkovic purchased the lucky winning ticket at Wesco #23, 5685 W. US Highway 10, in Ludington.

The second top prize worth $700,000 was claimed by an anonymous woman from Alma. The winning ticket was purchased at Southfield Fuel Stop, 26450 Lahser, in Southfield.

Winners claiming $70,000 prizes so far include Jennifer Harris, who won on a ticket purchased at TJ’s Party Store, 1208 Fort St., in Lincoln Park; Colleen Morrison, who won on a ticket purchased at Meijer #172, 3883 E. Grand River Ave., in Howell; and an anonymous player, who won on a ticket purchased at the Red Wagon Shoppe, 1613 Livernois Rd., in Troy.

The Lucky 7s Raffle is the Michigan Lottery’s 11th Raffle to date. Featured were two prizes of $700,000 each, 18 prizes of $70,000, 1,800 prizes of $700 and 18,000 prizes of $70.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was $740.7 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
