LANSING, March 26, 2009 – One of the top $777,777 Golden 7s prizes has been claimed by an anonymous man.
The lucky winner is a regular Lottery player who claims he was at the right place at the right time when he purchased the winning ticket. He went to the store to purchase a completely different ticket but they were out, so opted for two Golden 7s tickets instead.
And while he was not disappointed with his choice after learning of his good fortune, he told Lottery officials that after scratching the winning ticket he didn’t believe his luck. He looked at the ticket 100 times before it started to sink in that he was a very wealthy man. He plans to travel and share the prize money with his family.
The lucky Instant ticket was purchased at Meijer #312, 3757 Plainfield Ave., NE, in Grand Rapids.
Golden 7s is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at nearly 11,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was $740.7 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
