LANSING, March 13, 2009 – The Michigan Lottery is offering a chance for 12 people to become millionaires!
Million Dollar Mega Play goes on sale Monday, March 16 and features 12 top prizes of $1 million- the most the Lottery has ever offered on an instant ticket.
“The Lottery is excited to offer this new ticket and a chance for 12 lucky players to become millionaires,” said Lottery Commissioner M. Scott Bowen.
Along with the 12 $1 million prizes, the Million Dollar Mega Play ticket, which sells for $10, will include millions of dollars in other prize amounts, including over 200 prizes of $10,000 and nearly 15,000 prizes of $100. In total, there will be over 950,000 winning tickets, totaling over $32 million in cash prizes, in the game.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was $740.7 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
