Mega Millions prize claimed

LANSING, March 13, 2009 – A very lucky Warren woman won $10,000 from the February 27 Mega Millions drawing. Stephanie Malloy matched four white balls and the gold Mega ball to win the prize.

Malloy told Lottery officials she was “very happy” after discovering her win. She hid the ticket in her purse prior to cashing it at the Lottery’s Sterling Heights office and plans to use the prize money to pay bills.

The lucky winning easy-pick ticket was purchased at Sunshine Food & Beverage, 31007 Groesbeck Hwy., in Fraser.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was $740.7 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
