Winner claims "red hot" prize

LANSING, April 8, 2008 – One lucky Adrian winner is $300,000 richer after scratching a winning Super Red Hot Cashword Instant ticket.

The winner, who has been playing the Lottery for 20 years, said she kept checking her ticket over and over before she could believe that she had won.

She plans to share her wealth with her family; she will buy her granddaughter a car, help her grandson with college, help her son with a house and do something special for her daughter. She also plans to travel.

The winning ticket was purchased at Short Stop, 2340 E. US Highway 223, in Adrain.

Super Red Hot Cashword is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at nearly 11,000 Lottery retailers statewide.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
