Winner claims $40,000 prize

LANSING, March 28, 2008 – It was a lucky day for one Brighton Club Keno player!

A “thrilled” winner claimed $40,000 after she matched all eight numbers in an 8-Spot game. The prize usually pays $10,000, but the winner wagered $2 per draw and had a 2X Kicker to multiply her prize.

She plans to use the prize money for home improvements. The winning own pick ticket was purchased at Shark’s Club, 1140 Pinckney Rd., in Howell.

Club Keno offers 37 different ways to play and win. Players can wager $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10 or $20 per drawing and tickets can be purchased for up to 20 drawings at a time. Players win Club Keno by matching some or all of the numbers they have selected to the numbers drawn. The more numbers matched, the more the player wins.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
