LANSING, February 26, 2008 – It’s bigger than Mega Millions! It tops all other state Lotteries! It is the largest prize in game history! And now, the $22.9 million Classic Lotto 47 prize is the second largest jackpot in the nation!
Second only to the multi-state Powerball prize, the Classic Lotto 47 jackpot has long since surpassed the previous record jackpot of $12.6 million, won in July 2007.
In Saturday’s drawing, 19 lucky players each won $2,500 for matching five of six numbers. Saturday’s winning numbers were 07 17 23 40 41 47.
The next Classic Lotto 47 drawing is Wednesday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at any Lottery retailer and sales for Wednesday’s 7:29 p.m. drawing will close at 7:08 p.m. that night.
The Classic Lotto 47 jackpot starts at $1 million and grows by at least $100,000 each time the jackpot is not won.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
