LANSING, February 11, 2008 – While temperatures are dropping, the Classic Lotto 47 jackpot is rising! Wednesday’s prize is now set at a whopping $20.9 million!
The Classic Lotto 47 jackpot has been increasing since the last jackpot win in July when one player won $12.6 million.
Although no one matched all six numbers in Saturday’s drawing, $100,000 was awarded to 40 winners who matched five of six numbers and claimed $2,500 each. Saturday’s winning numbers were 05 11 17 23 25 45.
The next Classic Lotto 47 drawing is Wednesday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at any Lottery retailer and sales for Wednesday’s 7:29 p.m. drawing will close at 7:08 p.m. that night.
The Classic Lotto 47 jackpot starts at $1 million and grows by at least $100,000 each time the jackpot is not won.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
