Classic Lotto 47 jackpot now tops $20 million!

LANSING, February 7, 2008 – A lucky Michigan Lottery player could be rolling in the dough on Saturday if he or she wins the $20.4 million in the Classic Lotto 47 game.

The huge jackpot is by far the largest in game history and if a winning ticket is sold it would be in the top 20 largest prizes ever awarded by the Michigan Lottery.

In Wednesday’s drawing, 13 lucky players each won $2,500 for matching five of six numbers. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 02 08 17 22 35 43.

The next Classic Lotto 47 drawing is Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at any Lottery retailer and sales for Saturday’s 7:29 p.m. drawing will close at 7:08 p.m. that night.

The Classic Lotto 47 jackpot starts at $1 million and grows by at least $100,000 each time the jackpot is not won.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
