Swartz Creek woman makes a "Good Deal"

LANSING, January 11, 2008 – Gwendolyn Eckstein made a very good deal in the Lottery’s Deal or No Deal instant ticket. Her briefcase contained the top $100,000 prize in the game!

Eckstein originally thought it was a non winning ticket until she called her daughter for help. Her daughter, who is also a regular Lottery player, knew that her mom won the top prize.

The lucky winner hid the ticket in a “secret space” and plans to pay bills with her prize money. Eckstein and her husband Lelan enjoy camping in their free time.

The winning ticket was purchased at Admiral Petroleum Co., 7561 Miller Rd., in Swartz Creek.

Deal or No Deal is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at nearly 11,000 Lottery retailers statewide.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
