LANSING, January 11, 2008 – A very lucky Detroit woman, who opted to remain anonymous, collected her $310,818 Fantasy 5 prize. The lucky woman matched all five numbers in the Dec. 22, 2007 drawing.
The long-time Lottery player learned of her good fortune from one of the Lottery’s retailers. She was in such shock from the news that she double checked her winnings in the newspaper. Once the news finally sunk in, she woke her son up to tell him the good news.
The lucky woman plans to pay bills, donate to her church and help family with her easy pick winnings.
The lucky winning ticket was purchased at 94 & Haggerty Inc., 11175 Haggerty Rd., in Belleville.
Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
