Mega Millions and Classic Lotto jackpots jump!

LANSING, December 17, 2007 – Nearly $200 million is up for grabs in the Lottery’s two biggest games!

The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to a whopping $163 million for Tuesday’s drawing and the Classic Lotto 47 jackpot is a record at $14.2 million for Wednesday’s drawing!

Friday’s winning Mega Millions numbers were 04 07 12 17 30 and the Mega ball was 44. Saturday’s winning Classic Lotto 47 winning numbers were 10 12 13 15 22 45.

Three tickets, matching five numbers each, were sold in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing. Each ticket is worth $250,000! Sixteen lucky players matched five of six numbers in Saturday’s Classic Lotto 47 drawing for $2,500 each.

The $14.2 million Classic Lotto 47 jackpot is the largest in the game’s history. The previous record was $12,624,787 which was claimed in July 2007. The jackpot starts at $1 million and grows by at least $100,000 each time the jackpot is not won.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide. Sales close at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday for the 11 p.m. drawing.

Classic Lotto 47 is a six-digit game drawn Wednesdays and Saturdays. Tickets can be purchased at any Lottery retailer and sales for Wednesday night’s 7:29 p.m. drawing will close at 7:08 p.m. that night.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
