Detroit woman wins $10,000

LANSING, September 26, 2007 – A very lucky Detroit woman is $10,000 richer after her own Mega Millions numbers were drawn.  Tammi Morgan waited almost a year to claim her Dec. 19, 2006 win!  She matched four white balls and the Mega ball to win the prize.

Morgan’s ticket was in a box with other old Lottery tickets.  She finally sat down and learned of her good fortune on the Lottery’s Web site.  The lucky 38-year-old plans to use the money for a car, to pay her bills and on her children.  In her free time she enjoys “fixing things, sewing, and writing poems.”

The lucky winning own pick ticket was purchased at Mama Mart, 17785 Grand River Ave., in Detroit.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
