Monroe woman claims prize

LANSING, September 24, 2007 – A very lucky Meijer employee didn’t have to go far to win big!  She purchased her lucky Mega Millions ticket, worth $10,000 at Meijer #67, 1700 N. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe.

Paula Karalewitz matched four white balls numbers and the Mega ball to win the prize.  She hid the ticket in her pocket before claiming a prize.

The winner has no immediate plans for her prize money.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
