Unionville woman wins Mega prize

LANSING, September 14, 2007 – A regular Mega Millions player is $10,000 richer thanks to the numbers that came up in the Sept. 4 drawing!  Jeannine Essler matched four white ball numbers and the Mega ball number to win the prize.

The retiree hid the own pick ticket in a fire proof box before cashing it in at the Lottery’s Saginaw office.  She told Lottery officials that she plans to use the prize money to remodel the house.  In her free time, she enjoys crossword puzzles and playing cards.

The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Village Mini Market, 6516 Center St., in Unionville.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
