79-year-old wins $10,000

LANSING, September 13, 2007 – A very lucky Mega Millions player is excited about his $10,000 win!  Floyd Foland from Ferndale matched four white ball numbers and the gold Mega ball number to win the money.

Foland has been a regular Lottery player since its inception in 1972.  This is the largest win to date for the man who plans to use his prize money to go on a camping trip.

The lucky winning Aug. 28 own pick ticket was purchased at Meijer #222, 1005 E. 13 Mile Rd., in Madison Heights.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
