Fort Gratiot woman wins big

LANSING, August 22, 2007 – Evelyn Landacre was “numb” when she realized she won $10,000 playing Mega Millions.

The regular Lottery player matched four white balls, plus the Mega ball to win the prize.

She hid the ticket in a safe until claiming her prize and she plans to use the money to pay bills and remodel her kitchen.

The lucky winning easy pick ticket was purchased at Shell, 3805 Pine Grove Ave., in Fort Gratiot.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
