LANSING, July 31, 2007 – Evelina Baiocco was surprised and excited when she discovered her Mega Millions ticket was worth a whopping $10,000! Baiocco matched four white ball numbers and the gold Mega ball to win the prize.
The lucky 82-year-old Allen Park resident plans on paying bills with her prize money. She hid the easy pick ticket in her purse before cashing it in at the Lottery’s regional office.
The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Jay’s Food Shoppe, 24940 Carlysle St., in Dearborn.
Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
