Detroit woman wins $10,000 prize

LANSING, July 31, 2007 – A very lucky 26-year-old struck it rich when her four white ball numbers plus the gold ball number came up during the July 27 Mega Millions drawing!  The Detroit woman won a $10,000 prize for the match!

Shanina Ellis purchased her lucky winning easy pick ticket at Kennedy Liquor Store III, 13344 W. 7 Mile, in Detroit.  She plans on using the prize money to go shopping.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
