Super Raffle tickets on sale Sept. 17

LANSING, July 18, 2007 – Michigan Lottery players will again have their best chance ever to win $2 million when tickets for the popular Super Raffle go on sale Sept. 17.

The Lottery will sell 250,000 tickets, at $50 each, beginning at 6 a.m. that day. In a drawing either Oct. 22 or within 10 days of the tickets selling out, the Lottery will award two prizes of $2 million each (annuitized); 25 of $100,000 each; and 4,500 of $500 each. Players should watch the Lottery’s Web site for an announcement of when tickets are sold out and on what date the drawing will be conducted.

The Super Raffle, which is the fifth Raffle game offered by the Lottery, offers odds of 1 in 125,000 of winning $2 million. Odds of winning $100,000 are 1 in 10,000 and of winning $500, 1 in 56.

Previous games in the Raffle series, which has included one Super Raffle and three Millionaire Raffles, have been very successful and the Lottery expects a similar response to this game.

“Our first Super Raffle game sold out in less than three days and was clearly very popular with players,” said Lottery Commissioner Gary Peters. “They’ve been asking for another opportunity to play a game that has such great odds and we’re happy to offer it.”

The Super Raffle tickets will be issued in numerical order, starting with 000001. Sales will stop when ticket number 250000 has been sold. Players cannot choose their own numbers and numbers must be in the exact order drawn to be winners. The tickets will be available at all Michigan Lottery retailers.

Winning numbers will be available on the Lottery’s Web site on the afternoon of the drawing. Players will also be able to check numbers at Lottery retailers or Lottery regional offices at that time, and the winning numbers for the $2 million prizes will be announced during the Lottery’s broadcast that evening at 7:29 p.m.

Winners of $2 million and $100,000 prizes will need to make an appointment with the Lottery’s Public Relations Division to claim their prize; $500 prizes can be claimed at any Michigan Lottery retailer.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
