"Elated" winner claims prize

LANSING, May 21, 2007 – Lawrence Herman is a very happy man!  He claimed $10,000 after matching four white ball numbers, and the Mega ball in the May 11 Mega Millions drawing.

The Livonia man said he his the winning easy pick ticket “in a safe place at home.”  He plans to use the money to pay bills.

The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Farmington Hills Wine/Liquor, 24233 Orchard Lake Rd., in Farmington Hills.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
