LANSING, April 19, 2007 – Janet Grondzik of Columbus, won big when she matched four white ball numbers, plus the Mega ball in the April 13 Mega Millions drawing.
The lucky lady has been playing the Lottery for 30 years and hid the ticket in her purse before cashing it in at the Lottery office in Sterling Heights for $10,000! She has no immediate plans for her prize money.
The winning easy pick ticket was purchased at Speedway #8829, 67335 Gratiot Ave., in Richmond.
Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
