LANSING, March 30, 2007 – Donald Castner can’t wait to pay off his mortgage!  The lucky winner will use part of his $250,000 prize he won after matching all five white ball numbers in the March 27 Mega Millions drawing!

Castner, who has been playing the same “own pick” numbers for the last two years, said he has come very close to winning the Mega Millions a few different times.  He has been playing the Lottery for 20 years and since he’s recently retired he plans to invest some of his prize money for the future.

The lucky winner checked his numbers over and over before he could believe the ticket was a winner.  He also asked his wife to check the ticket! 

The lucky winner said he enjoys fishing, grilling and cooking.  He’s looking forward to being a good “house husband” for his wife who will continue working.

The winning own pick ticket was purchased at Wayne’s Food Mart, 11094 US Highway 31 North, in Montague.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
