Algonac man wins "Mega" prize

LANSING, March 30, 2007 – Richard Raymond was shocked to learn that he won a $10,000 prize!  Raymond matched four white ball numbers and the gold Mega ball number in the Feb. 27 Mega Millions drawing.

The lucky man discovered his good fortune after he returned from vacation.  He told Lottery officials that his wife “went crazy” with the good news.  He plans to use the easy pick winnings to remodel his kitchen.

The winning ticket was purchased at D Brothers Party Store, 9797 Dixie Hwy., in Fair Haven.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
