"Breathless" winner claims prize

LANSING, February 13, 2007 – Glen Shewmake was “breathless” when he realized his Mega Millions ticket was worth $250,000!

The lucky Muskegon man matched all five white ball numbers, without matching the Mega ball to win big.

He hid the winning ticket in his wallet and said he plans to use the money to pay for lessons to get his pilot’s license and to pay bills.

The easy pick ticket was purchased at Coops Dock and Deli, 187 S. 3rd St. in Muskegon.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
