Detroit man claims $6.6 million

LANSING, February 2, 2007 – A very lucky Detroit man claimed his Classic Lotto 47 jackpot prize, a whopping $6,630,199!

The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, matched all six numbers in the January 31 drawing.  The winning numbers were 03 08 16 25 28 and 41.  Since he missed seeing the winning numbers during the evening draw, he had to buy two newspapers to be sure his numbers matched!  He “couldn’t believe it” when he realized he had won.

The longtime Lottery player, who recently retired, said he plans to use the prize money to make home repairs, buy a second car and travel.  He used his birth date and a combination of his siblings birthdates to select his winning numbers.

The own-pick winning ticket was purchased at the Princess Superette, 16342 W. McNichols Rd, in Detroit.

Classic Lotto 47 drawings are conducted at 7:29 pm every Wednesday and Saturday night.  Jackpots start at $1 million and grow by at least $100,000 each drawing

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
