Birmingham man strikes it rich

LANSING, January 30, 2007 – Robert Davis, a 36-year-old Mega Millions player, matched four white ball numbers and the gold Mega ball in the Jan. 19 drawing to win a $10,000 prize!

The lucky regular Lottery player hid the easy pick ticket in his drawer before cashing it in at one of the Lottery’s regional offices.  He has no immediate plans for his winnings, but plans on saving the majority of it.

Davis purchased his lucky ticket at Efros Drugs, 6427 Orchard Lake Rd., in West Bloomfield.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
