Dearborn Heights man wins $20,000

LANSING, January 23, 2007 – A very lucky Dearborn Heights man didn’t have to carry a tune to win the top prize on the Lottery’s American Idol Instant ticket.

The anonymous winner was so happy with his win that he rushed straight to the Lottery’s Dearborn Heights office to claim his $20,000 prize.  The man plans to use his prize money to pay bills.

The winning ticket was purchased at Dimitri’s Party Shoppe, 27338 W. Warren St., in Dearborn Heights.

American Idol is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at nearly 11,000 Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
