Detroit man wins Mega Millions

LANSING, January 18, 2007 – Anthony Jackson of Detroit won $10,000 when he matched four white ball numbers and the Mega ball in the Jan. 5 Mega Millions drawing.

Jackson, who has been playing the Lottery for 20 years, said he learned of his good fortune while trying to cash his ticket at a local store.

The lucky winner purchased the winning easy pick ticket at Frank’s Party Store, 33026 Mound Rd., in Sterling Heights.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
