Waterford player cashes in

LANSING, January 11, 2007 – A longtime Lottery player cashed in when he matched four white balls, plus the Mega ball, in the January 5 Mega Millions drawing to win $10,000!

Patrick Shea was “excited” when he discovered that his ticket was a big winner.  He hid the ticket in his dresser until claiming his prize at the Lottery office in Sterling Heights.

The lucky winner has no immediate plans for his prize money.  The winning easy pick winning ticket was purchased at Hero’s Bar-N-Grill, 39079 Mound Rd., in Sterling Heights.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
