Kawkawlin man wins $500,000

LANSING, December 27, 2006 – Douglas Ballor is the latest winner in the Michigan Lottery’s Holiday Celebration Instant ticket grand prize drawing.  He walked off Ford Field on Dec. 24 $500,000 richer!

Ballor, 35, was the winner of the grand prize in a drawing Sunday afternoon during halftime of the Detroit Lions game at Ford Field.  He has “big plans” for his prize money.

The lucky winner was one of five finalists randomly selected from over 65,000 players who sent in a non-winning Holiday Celebration Instant ticket.  The other finalists in the drawing, each of whom received $5,000 for their participation in the event, included Renay Roumayah of Highland, Carla Bonk of Howell, Dan Kechak of Lansing, and Kay Armour of Marshall.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
