Winner claims $10,000

LANSING, September 19, 2006 – A very lucky Redford man is $10,000 richer after his Mega Millions ticket matched four white ball numbers, plus the Mega ball on Sept. 5.

Robert McKay hid his winning ticket in his wallet before claiming his prize at the Lottery office in Sterling Heights. He plans to put his money toward the purchase of a new house.

The lucky easy-pick ticket was purchased at Beech Daly and 5 MI Shell, 25575 5 MI Rd., in Redford.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 10,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
