Three Rivers man claims $110,000

LANSING, September 13, 2006 – After Gary Winans’ friends won the Fantasy 5 jackpot in January, he started playing the game.  Only nine months later he hit the big jackpot on September 8 and won $110,000!

The Three Rivers man didn’t believe his luck after reading of his good fortune in the newspaper.  Just to make sure his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him, he went on the Lottery’s Web site to verify his numbers.  He and his wife, Jean, were in shock!

Winans plans to use the prize money to pay tuition for his children and some bills.  In his free time he enjoys motorcycles and hunting.

The lucky winning easy pick ticket was purchased at Hoffman Street Grocery, 115 W. Hoffman St., in Three Rivers.

Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven days a week.  Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
