LANSING, Sept. 11, 2006 – The Michigan Lottery’s largest Classic Lotto 47 jackpot of $7,691,973 has been won by one lucky ticket holder. The winning numbers, 2, 8, 9, 20, 25 and 45, were drawn Saturday evening.
“The Michigan Lottery congratulates our state’s newest millionaire!” Lottery Commissioner Gary Peters said.
The winner should contact the Lottery’s Public Relations Division at (517) 373-1237 to schedule an appointment to claim the prize.
Saturday’s jackpot was the largest since Classic Lotto 47’s launch in May of 2005. Based on Lotto 47, which ran from December 1989 to March 1993, Classic Lotto 47 jackpots start at $1 million and increase by at least $100,000 each drawing. There are guaranteed prizes of $5 for matching three; $100 for matching four; and $2,500 for matching five numbers. Classic Lotto 47 drawings are conducted at 7:29 pm every Wednesday and Saturday.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
