18-year-old player wins big

LANSING, August 25, 2006 – Kevin Lemon, of Dexter, is a brand new Lottery player with a great big prize!  He won $10,000 when he matched four white ball numbers and the Mega ball in the August 8 Mega Millions drawing.

Lemon, who has been playing the Lottery for less than a year, plans to use the prize money to help pay for college.  He was “very excited” about the win.

The winning easy pick ticket was purchased at William’s Party Store, 591 W. Michigan Ave., in Ypsilanti.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 10,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
