Boon man claims $198,736 prize

LANSING, August 18, 2006 – David Hennigan of Boon is a very lucky Lottery player. Not only has he won a previous prize of $50,000 on the Lottery’s game show Fame and Fortune, he just struck it rich again with a $198,736 prize!

The longtime Lottery player claimed the Fantasy 5 prize this morning at the Lottery’s headquarters in Lansing. He informed Lottery officials that after winning big the last time, he traveled to Ireland. While there, he purchased an Irish Lottery ticket and the numbers became his lucky numbers that he plays religiously. His own pick ticket came up just like the numbers in Ireland did – 06, 10, 13, 24, and 29.

He plans to travel to Ireland again with his prize money.

Hennigan has a part-time job where he purchased his lucky ticket – Boon Grocery, 562 Haskins, in Boon. The owners of the store, who happen to be his brother and sister-in-law, and his wife were so excited for him they accompanied the lucky winner to Lansing, too.

Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
