$10,000 prize claimed by Rochester man

LANSING, August 4, 2006 – A very lucky regular Lottery player matched four white balls and the gold Mega ball to win a $10,000 Mega Millions prize.

Larry Knudsen has played the Lottery for 12 years and this is his largest win to date.  He hid the easy pick ticket in his wallet before cashing it in at the Lottery’s Sterling Heights office.  He plans to use the prize money to pay bills.

The winning ticket was purchased at Speedway #8832, 1010 S. Rochester Rd., in Rochester.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 10,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
