Rochester man claims $10,000

LANSING, June 14, 2006 – Michael Moreland is a very lucky 20-year-old.  His easy pick Mega Millions ticket made him $10,000 richer!  Moreland matched four numbers and the Mega ball to win the prize.

The Rochester resident couldn’t believe when he saw his numbers come up on T.V.  He hid the winning ticket in his wallet before cashing it in at the Lottery’s Sterling Heights office.  He enjoys camping in his free time and has no immediate plans with his prize money.

The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Rite Aid Discount Pharmacy #4319, 12724 S. Saginaw St., in Grand Blanc

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 10,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
