LANSING, May 17, 2006 – A very lucky 68-year-old Port Huron retiree scratched her way to a $35,000 prize.
Margaret Ready, who claims she has played the Lottery “forever”, scratched 10 words in the Lottery’s Cashword Instant game to win the top prize.
Just to make sure she didn’t make a mistake, she had her local retailer check her ticket. Ready hid her winning ticket in a safe deposit box and plans to help her children with her prize money. She enjoys camping, walking and bike riding in her free time.
The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Walsh’s Party Store, 2741 Pine Grove Ave., in Port Huron.
Cashword is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at more than 10,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
