LANSING, May 10, 2006 – A very lucky woman from Farmington Hills claimed a $10,000 Mega Millions prize today.
Lois Dupnack matched four white ball numbers and the Mega ball to win the prize.
The lucky 71-year-old retiree learned of her good fortune on TV. She originally thought she had won $100 and was shocked when she found out that her prize was much larger than that! She plans to give some of her prize money to charity and her children.
The lucky winning easy pick ticket was purchased at Kroger #481, 4395 Orchard Lake Rd., in Orchard Lake.
Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 10,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
