LANSING, May 3, 2006 – A lucky Clio couple, who opted to remain anonymous, matched all five numbers in the May 1 Fantasy 5 game. The pair claimed a $100,000 prize earlier today.
The husband found out of his good fortune by watching the numbers come up on TV. His wife wasn’t home and he thought he would surprise her of their luck by marking on a car brochure that it was all hers. Besides a new car, the couple plan to give a portion of the prize money to their children, along with purchasing a new roof for their son and lawn equipment for themselves. In their free time, she enjoys gardening and he likes to take a swing at golf.
The lucky winning easy pick ticket was purchased at Witmer Grocery, 1372 E. Lake Rd., in Clio.
Fantasy 5 is the Michigan Lottery’s game which replaced Michigan Roll Down. Drawings for the game are held seven days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
