LANSING, February 21, 2003 – A lucky Lincoln Park man was “very excited” after learning he had matched five of six numbers in the Michigan Lottery’s WINFALL drawing on Saturday, February 1 to win a $24,113 prize! The winning numbers for that drawing were: 1, 17, 24, 29, 42 and 44.
In total for the February 1, 2003 WINFALL drawing, there were 25 lucky winners who will each receive $24,113 for matching five numbers; 1,304 winners who will each receive $970 for matching four numbers; and 24,234 winners who will each receive $47 for matching three numbers.
The lucky man, who requested anonymity, purchased the winning “easy pick” ticket at H&S Petro Inc., 3585 Dix Hwy., in Lincoln Park.
“I checked the winning numbers while reading the newspaper,” said the 59-year-old winner. “I was surprised to see I had matched five of six numbers, so I double-checked them on the Michigan Lottery’s Web site (www.michigan.gov/lottery). I am very excited to win!”
The winner, who works at Tech Team Global, said he kept the winning ticket hidden in a safe place in his home prior to turning it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Dearborn Heights. He added that he plans to share his winnings with his children and use the remainder “to buy something for himself.”
WINFALL drawings are held twice a week – Wednesday and Saturday – at 7:29 p.m., and the cost to play is
$1 per wager. Tickets are available at more than 7,200 Lottery retailers statewide.
Since it was created in 1972, the Michigan Lottery has returned over $11 billion to the state School Aid Fund, which supports K-12 public education in the state of Michigan.
