Gary Jarvi of Taylor Wins $6,633 Prize In Lottery's Change Play Game!

LANSING, November 13, 2002 – Gary Jarvi of Taylor experienced a bit of Lottery luck recently when he turned 99 cents worth of spare change into a $6,633 prize while playing the Michigan Lottery’s new Change Play game.

Jarvi, who works as a security officer for Akal Security, purchased the winning ticket at F & M #7770, 9751 Telegraph Road, in Taylor.

"I looked up the winning number in the newspaper," said Jarvi. "I was stunned. I kept comparing the number on the ticket to the winning number listed in the newspaper. I couldn’t believe I had won such a big prize!"

Jarvi said he went directly to the Lottery’s regional office in Dearborn Heights to claim his winnings. The lucky man, who enjoys golfing in his free time, said he plans to use his winnings to make some home improvements.

The first Change Play drawing took place on Monday, October 14, 2002 and drawings are held every night just after 9:00 p.m. Change Play allows players to use loose change from any purchase to buy a chance to win thousands of dollars with six guaranteed winners each day. The six winning tickets are randomly selected in a computerized drawing that picks from all the unique wagers placed that day. The six winners share the prize money from that day’s drawing, and their individual winnings are proportional to the amount they wagered on the winning ticket.
