LANSING, September 30, 2002 –Douglas Brown of Brooklyn was pleasantly surprised to learn he had matched all five numbers in the September 14 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win a $5,211 share of the jackpot. Brown split the jackpot prize with two other lucky winners. The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 3, 7, 19, 28 and 33.
The total jackpot prize pool for the September 14 Michigan Rolldown drawing was $15,633, so each jackpot winner received $5,211, before taxes. In total for the September 14 drawing, 18,325 winners shared $53,475 in prizes. In addition to the three jackpot winners, 86 winners matched four numbers to win a $74 prize; 2,207 winners matched three numbers to win an $7 prize; and 16,029 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.
Brown purchased the winning ticket at Vics Food Store Ltd., 101 Austin Road, in Napoleon.
"I bought the ticket the day before I left for a vacation to Florida," Brown said. "The next day I called the Lottery’s toll-free Lottery Link number (1-800-822-8888) to find out what the winning numbers were I was excited to learn I had won!"
The lucky 50-year-old, who is retired and enjoys camping and traveling in his free time, said he kept the winning ticket in a safe before turning it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Lansing. He added that he plans to use his winnings to travel.
The first Michigan Rolldown drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week – – Monday through Saturday – – at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
