LANSING, August 28, 2002 — An Oak Park man was stunned to learn he had matched all five numbers in the August 12 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win the $15,198 jackpot! The winning numbers in that day’s drawing were: 1, 19, 20, 27 and 32.
In total for the August 12 Michigan Rolldown drawing, there were 15,159 winners who shared $51,317 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, there were 41 winners who matched four numbers for a prize of $152; 1,477 winners who matched three numbers for a prize of $11; and 13,640 winners who matched two numbers for the $1 prize.
The Oak Park man, who requested anonymity, said he learned he had a winning ticket after visiting a local store and picking up a winning number report. He said he was "very surprised" to have won the jackpot!
The winning Michigan Rolldown ticket was purchased at Isso Party Store, 19400 Plymouth Road, in Detroit. Prior to turning the winning ticket in at the Lottery’s regional office in Dearborn Heights, the winner said he kept it in his pocket at all times to ensure its safety.
The 55-year-old winner, who enjoys bowling in his free time, chose his winning number combination by using the birthdays of family members. He added that he plans to use his winnings to support the business that he owns.
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held Monday, February 28, 2000. Drawings are conducted six days a week — Monday through Saturday — at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at the more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
